Fishi Monthly Medal
December 2021
The FISHI December Monthly Medal was held on Saturday 18th December. What better incentive to play for at Christmas than a few generously donated seafood platters!
Michael Bond was the skilled winner this month. It was a tough day on the course, but he bought home a solid 54 Nett. Very close behind, decided on count back was Justyn Durbin and Glenn Rees. Ryan Kenny and Rhys Bartholomew made up the run down.
The Whitsunday Transit Nearest the Pins were won by Justyn Durbin and Ryan Kenny.
The gross winner on the day was Ryan Kenny.
Ballistic Monthly Medal
November 2021
This November we all went BALLISTIC! As the sponsors for our monthly medal we were delighted to be able to share a cold one with Andy Oliver. The weather had organisers concerned but a little rain was not enough to stop 19 dedicated members taking to the course to compete for the 5th medal.
Winner, Justyn Durbin, had a great day and not only did he win the main event on Nett 47, he took out not one but two ‘Nearest the Pins’ – what an effort!
Fortunately Ryan Kenny (Nett 51) and Chris Barlett (Nett 53) were there to ensure Justyn didn’t take home ALL the beer! Glenn Rees (Nett 53), Wayne Singleton (Nett 55) and Tyson Flavel (Nett 55) formed the run down with some great scores. Paula Wronski once again solidly represented the ladies taking home the ladies ‘Nearest the Pin’.
A special mention for our first junior entrant Jack Hayes Williams who at just 9 years of age showed all the tenacity of a pro and we look forward to being a part of his golf journey!
Red Cat Adventures Monthly Medal
October 2021
October 30th was the day of the Red Cat Monthly Medal at the Club, the weather was HOT and the pin positions challenging, to say the least! 31 players took the course and sweated it out over the 18-holes of frustration. Over a few cold beers and some laughs about activity on the course it was agreed that it was a fantastic day, AND the prizes don’t get much better than a day pass for the family about Red Cat Adventures ‘Thundercat’.
First went to Club Captain Glenn Rees on Nett 52 points, closely followed by Terry Kimpton and Mark Winter scoring Nett 53.
Conditions were tough and all played extremely well to achieve these results. Just ask Dean Barnard, pro golfer, who won the Gross overall score on 56 points.
Auto Pro Monthly Medal
September 2021
Saturday’s Monthly Medal, generously sponsored by Autopro Cannonvale was another fantastic day. The course was full, contenders enjoyed a couple of rounds and few cold ones. The winner for the day was Dean Barnard 53 nett, followed by Danny York 56 nett and Tyson Flavel 57 nett. Nearest the Pin sponsored by Zambrero, was won by Paula Wronski and Kev Francke.
Betta Home Living Monthly Medal
August 2021
The Club’s 2nd Monthly Medal, and a beautiful day on the greens. Players competed to take home prize vouchers offered by Betta Home Living. The men’s comp winner was Rob Lodders on 49 points, 2nd Perri Simpson on 53, and 3rd Alan Clinch on 54 points. Jonell Goss was the leading lady on 67 and Pip Runciman on 70. Nearest the Pin sponsored by Zambrero was won by Perri Simpson and Jonell Goss.
Repco Airlie Beach Monthly Medal
July 2021
Peter Flavel took the win on a count back narrowly succeeding over Bob Spees on 51 points. Paul Durnsford took out 3rd place on 54 points. There were some fantastic plays on the day with many birdies ‘so close to hole in ones’. The weather was great, and all enjoyed the challenge. A special thanks to Airlie Beach Betta Home Living and Repco Airlie Beach for sponsoring the event and donating generous gift cards for the winners. Nearest the Pin was sponsored by Zambrero Cannonvale and we are sure that the winner Dave Burke was grateful for the yummy dinner after a hard day’s play. Glenn Rees took out ‘Best Stroke Card’ of the day with 60 off the stick. Good Job Glenn!

INAUGURAL CLUB CHAMPIONS ANNOUNCED
Congratulations to Peter Drowning and Pip Runciman for succeeding 28 players and the course to take home the trophies and grand title of Whitsunday Green Club Champion 2021 (Men’s & Ladies).
And a special mention for Perri Simpson who was gross winner off the stick on the day.
Course conditions were A1 (albeit a little damp). Nervous smiles and enthusiasm took the journey through the frustrations of the traps to the joys of mateship and camaraderie. The tight course ensured laughs and cheers were heard all over, creating great atmosphere despite the drizzly conditions.
Many applauded the course, the hard work of the staff, the local businesses who supplied a great many prizes and a general positivity for the direction the Club is taking. Management echoes this sentiment and looks forward to many great comps and social events soon.
