While we all have a vision of the perfect family holiday, it doesn’t always quite go to plan. Long hours of travel, the excitement of a new place and a never-ending list of activities can make holiday planning seem overwhelming – especially in a place so rich in activities and adventure such as Airlie Beach!

With breathtaking views, surrounding marine parks and lively resorts, you won’t want to miss a beat of what this island paradise has to offer.

There are endless ways to explore the crystal blue waters of Airlie Beach – from sunset cruises to high-speed catamarans or an afternoon of snorkelling for those looking to get up close with amazing marine wildlife. However, when you’re ready to head back to dry land, you may want to relax like the locals to truly experience island life.

At Whitsunday Green, we’re fortunate to be able to call ourselves locals. We also have the pleasure of providing a slice of golfing paradise that the whole family can enjoy. So if you’re planning a trip and looking for family things to do in Airlie Beach, visit us at Whitsunday Green for a relaxing day of family fun and let us take the stress out of holiday planning.

Here’s how to make the most of your holiday with a trip to Whitsunday Green, where you can enjoy tropical weather, blue skies, and of course – golf!

Where to find us
Despite the secret and exclusive feeling of being nestled between a spectacular mountainous landscape and the serene blue glow of the sea, this private golfing oasis is only a 10-minute car trip from Airlie Beach town centre.

Just a short trip to the urban edge will uncover our stunning par-3 course set on 270 hectares of pristine green!

In true Airlie Beach style – take it easy!
A round of golf on the Whitsunday Green course typically takes around 2 hours or less, though you’ll want to make sure you leave ample time to enjoy the grounds and take in the magnificent views of the lush native gardens from the Clubhouse Cafe verandah.

Whitsunday Green is open every day from 8 am till 5 pm – plenty of time to soak up the spectacular views, enjoy a relaxing game of golf and get a bite to eat at our Clubhouse Cafe.

Get prepared
We understand that it may be your first time golfing as a family (or at all), in fact – we absolutely encourage it and we’ve got you covered from head to toe! From tees and balls through to gloves, hats and sunscreen, everything is available to buy or hire from the Pro Shop, including club hire for just $5!

All you’ll need is comfortable clothing, covered shoes plus your favorite pair of sunnies and you’re on course for a good time! (pun intended).

Time to tee!
Once you’re equipped and ready, it’s time to tee off the most memorable game of golf you’ll ever have (we can’t be certain about that, but we’re willing to take bets!)

Our stunning par-3 course has been designed to please both seasoned professionals and eager beginners looking to improve their game. The course is also equally loved by those looking for new experiences and things to do in Airlie Beach for families –  you may only visit it once, but are guaranteed to remember it for a lifetime.

What’s a ‘par’?
(We won’t keep it technical for too long, but here’s a quick low-down on the lingo to get you golf ready and excited!)
A par is defined as the number of strokes an experienced golfer would usually take to complete a particular hole. The shorter the distance between the holes, the lower the par. Typically, a golf course has 18 holes with a mix of par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s.

Par-3 holes are the shortest and give players three shots to make par. These are the most exciting holes to play as you can easily reach the green from the tee box, meaning more time putting and less walking between swings. This keeps the game moving – perfect for keeping the kids engaged and everyone involved.

Get into the swing by starting at the driving range
For the more competitive families or those looking for something a little different, why not make a stop at the driving range? Brush up on your skills with some practice swings before hitting the course for a family-friendly tournament, or compete on the driving range to see who can hit the ball the furthest and strike the best golfer pose (it’s harder than it looks!)

Visit the Clubhouse Cafe for a token and grab a self-service bucket of 50 balls for just $14.

Cool-off at the Clubhouse Cafe
After an exciting game of golf, head to our Clubhouse Cafe to announce the winner over a refreshing beverage. Cool off under the air-con inside, or relax alfresco style with a view from the verandah overlooking the green’s stunning native gardens.

The Clubhouse Cafe provides a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere amongst a spacious, open-plan design. Serving up delicious food and a variety of snacks and refreshments, it’s the perfect place to wind down and take it all in.

If watching the world go by over your favourite beverage sounds like your ideal afternoon (and why wouldn’t it?), you can always enjoy the tranquillity of the Clubhouse alone whilst the children head to our Kids Club. Let the kids hit the range and whilst you make the most of a quiet afternoon enjoy the beautiful view.

A day at the Whitsunday green caters to the whole family. From peace and relaxation to competition and games, there’s something everyone can enjoy at our green oasis. So if you’re looking for family-friendly activities or things to do in Airlie Beach, pay us a visit for your next adventure.
