Are you an avid golf player or a simply a budding enthusiast? Perhaps you just want to try a spot of 9-hole golf on a course like no other: the tropical paradise of The Whitsundays!

Below is an itinerary created especially for anyone who wants to enjoy the best of The Whitsundays – and fit in a spot of golf – during your next tropical holiday here. 

Don’t worry, we’ve thought of everything; where to refresh, refuel and have fun, as well as unwind and relax!

Morning:

For a perfect start to your day, you can’t beat the Fat Frog Beach Café in Cannonvale for breakfast with a view of the azure ocean.

This venue is both a local and visitor favourite, serving up classic dishes like eggs benedict, buttermilk pancakes, house specials (the green frog or the fat frog) and more!

You’ll also be able to get your must-have coffee, tea or icy cool drink hit to prep you for the rest of the day.

Alternatively, if around on a Saturday:

Head to the Whitsunday Markets (held on the foreshore between the Airlie Beach Hotel and Whitsunday Sailing Club). They operate from 7am till around 1pm and have a range of food and drink offerings to satiate your appetite (special mention: the delicious local Mango sorbet stall).

You’ll also be treated to rows of local produce, art, crafts, jewellery, clothing and other locally made offerings to explore. Plus, there’s always great live music to enhance the holiday vibes.

Post-Breaky:

Embrace your full stomach with a spot of people watching in the sun on nearby Airlie Beach, or why not use your newfound energy for a leisurely beach walk?

For something a little different, you can grab a fun 30-minute tuk-tuk ride that will cycle you past some of the best local spots as you relax and enjoy the scenery and nature.

Afternoon:

A Spot of Golf:

Whitsunday Green is home to the most beautiful 9-hole golf courses (18 tees) in the region – picture an architecturally designed course with sprawling greens, water features, glimpses of the sea, majestic mountainscapes and rolling hills.

It is open to the public from 8am-5pm, 7 days a week – and the only thing that’s missing is you!

  • You don’t need your own clubs or a membership; the 9-hole golf course is open to everyone
  • The course is specifically designed to be challenging for experienced golfers, whilst also being welcoming and full of excitement and fun for newcomers of all ages (so you can bring the entire family!)
  • Set aside around 2 hours to complete, and enjoy a great, inexpensive way to relax in the afternoon with a little non-strenuous exercise too!

Be Refreshed:

After you finish, we suggest wandering over to the nearby Whitsunday Green Clubhouse Café and quenching your thirst with a cold beverage and some tasty snacks while taking in the stunning surrounds. 

Afterwards, it’s only a short drive to cool off with a dip in the world’s best pool – the ocean! If you still have energy left, you will be treated to an array of the most beautiful snorkelling spots where you can discover and explore a wide variety of marine life (including beautiful fish and coral).

If you’re really lucky, dolphin and whale watching could be on the schedule too!

Relax & Unwind:

Alternatively, there are some fantastic spas and massage options in the area if you want feel any tension melt anyway and completely bliss out. Two options to try are Whitsunday Health Spa or Aroma Stone.

Evening

Dinner, Drinks & Nightlife: 

Whether you want a laid back evening or something a little livelier, you’ll be spoilt for choice for dinner and cuisines in the area; including a range of Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, fresh seafood (of course) options and more. 

You may also wish to broaden your stay (and day) with an evening dinner cruise around the islands. 

There are several rooftop bars (especially around Airlie Beach) where you can watch the sun set in style with your drink of choice and reminisce on the wonderful day you’ve had!
